I've had a couple of Apple's old, clear (w/black keycaps) Pro Keyboards hooked into an old iMac G5 and a newer iMac i3 for a short while now. (Bought a second one for $5 in case of problems.)

Yesterday, the numeric keypad on the original one died (numbers only - the other keys in the pad work). Of course I thought it was the NUM LOCK/CLEAR that was toggled off so I cycled that a couple of times but to no avail.

THIS KEYBOARD AND IT'S ASSOCIATED NUMERIC KEYPAD HAS BEEN WORKING NORMALLY, right up through Wednesday - then no operation on Thursday.

When I turned on the keyboard viewer I saw that the NUM LOCK/CLEAR key was "x'd" out but all other keys on the numeric keypad (other than the numbers themselves) functioned normally as well as the rest of the keys on the whole keyboard functioned normally.

Tried swapping out the replacement keyboard with the same results - no NUM LOCK/CLEAR key operation or number key activity. Tried this on BOTH iMacs with the same results.

I checked and neither the Mouse Keys nor the Sticky Keys functions have been inadvertently selected via the System Preferences/Keyboard menu.

Additionally, when I plug in the original aluminum extended keyboard (the one with what I like to call the white "chicklet" keys,) the numeric keypad works just fine.

It's just that I like using the older Pro keyboard with it's larger high-relief keycaps and better overall feel (to me) over the newer "chicklet" style keyboards.

Nothing new installed/removed from either system in the past couple of days.

Any ideas?
