I've had a full Sonos Playbase with two new Sonos One's as my surround system in my TV room for a while, and do like the the Sonos gear.
When I saw the announcement for the Sonos Beam I thought that would be great for our bedroom to replace an ageing DVD/surround sound system we've had for years. Until Sky TV offered one of their Devialet developed Soundbox's for a heavily discounted of £199. That's quite a bit cheaper than the Sonos plus it has some favourable reviews.

Anyone else been using one of these units?

Go for the SONOS! The sky box really isn't getting much coverage even though it's been out for a while. It's a Sky mainstream thing aimed at their audience - if you want real quality, go for the SONOS any day! Sky and quality really do not go together!

For 200 quid I’ve ordered one If Devialet’s involvement I think it’s worth a punt, I doubt they’d be putting their name on it if it’s a sub par products. Plus it’s only for the bedroom so has to be a step up from this old Samsung system I never use

If anyone is interested in one of these boxes, I can really recommend one. The active sound metadata has made a huge difference for audio where I was struggling to hear with the typical mumbling these days on some content.

Not stupendous on music, perfect listenable but definitely works really nice on TV content.

Is there any base I have been considering soundbox since launch
Though another OP from another forum advised soundbox quality woudn't be comparable to my since sold Bose Airlink speaker.
Not sure is it possible 570934 could capture a sound demo and post to this forum.
Bose wasn't bad at all though in my 1 bed flat it was definitely a mono type sound experience as I have limited room.

I can capture some sound but recording it on a device then playing it back over a compressed format wouldn't do it much good. It's nice little unit for the money if you are a Sky customer, and the VIP program gets you another 50 quid off. For 200 smackers it is a really good, solid TV soundbar. As i said it's not cracking for music but it's ok, fairly warm bass wise, just misses the sparkle, but I'm sure with a little EQ you can lift the sound dependant on what source you are playing music from. I've only tried music over Airplay from my iPad so far but Airplay from a Mac and the iTunes app wil give ou extra EQ possibilities.

249 is my current soundbox offer.
Need a reply on possible 2015 sony 4k t.v/soundbox compatibility-I've requested an answere elsewhere
Interesting seems I've missed the vip soundbox offer @200-think I did see that some time ago -not showing via rewards app today.
Once I get compatibility answer then I could make a purchase decision.

There will be no compatibility problems as it's a HDMI in from the Sky Q box if you want to take advantages of the active sound thing, then HDMI to your TV. Otherwise it's just a Optical in from your TV.

Great to hear that it sounds good. So far reviews have been positive!

Thanks
That’s optical connected and setup correctly via Sony 4k t.v. Optical volume settings per hdmi socket.
Hdmi 1-Soundbox (i.e. sky q sound)
Hdmi 2-Apple 4k tv
Sound for both devices being carried from Sony t.v. To soundbox via optical toslink cable.

@570934
Soundbox installed yesterday
OSD working fine via Sony tv
Some different opinions on connecting optical cable to q or tv from soundbox

Soundbox sound is nice for my flat
Very clear almost ambient
Very impressed for 1 speaker solution

Nice one, it’s not a bad bit of kit for the price. Although it does have more than one speaker The active sound mode on Sky content can be a bit actually working sometimes, but does make a difference when it does.
