Sky.com has created a version of Sky Player which runs on the OSX platform. It requires Microsoft Silverlight, and runs in Safari at skyplayer.sky.com

You can now watch Sky Player on a Mac! All you need is a Mac with Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 (the free browser plug-in) to watch TV on Sky Player.
Unfortunately, on demand Movies and Entertainment aren't available yet. Apologies, we'll offer our full range of on demand content on Macs in 2009.

The service free to Sky Multiroom or Broadband Max customers. Other sky customers can subscribe to sky player multiroom for £9.75 monthly. The channels available are linked to the existing subscription.
Sky TV customers with Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband Max can watch up to 12 channels, including Sky Sports, live online. The live channels available for you to watch for free on Sky Player correspond to the channels that are part of your Sky TV subscription.
Non Sky Customers can subscribe to a sky player TV subscription. 3 packs are available for between £7.50 and £30 (increases to £15 to £34 in Feb 09)

Unfortunately sky player is not available on the iphone as it requires Microsoft Silverlight; but with hints of an iPhone version of the viewer in the future, hopefully it will not be too long...

Good stuff. Just 4od to go and the main UK broadcasters will all have Mac-compatible online services :)

Sky TV on Mac OS X

It's a rip-off..... yes it works - sort of - but to pay for a subscription if already a subscriber to Sky services, so that you become "Multi-room" when you are not using any of their equipment is a rip-off. Also to find that the channels you have available to you are severely restricted is a very bitter pill to swallow.

Why would you need Multiroom or Broadband packages.

Sky is really getting quite pants now. Anyone get their Sky Mag? Such hyperbole. Every different show on every page has a cookie cutter quote of "And you can see more detail of this with Sky HD". It's supposed to be a kind of TV guide not irrelevant BS flogging another service.
