Hi All,

Just wanted to say thanks to everybody for helping me get Skype running on my iBook G4. way cool. now I can use this box as a backup for my other machines at work when I have to take them offline.

I do have a small request, how do I get skype to not start when I reboot the machine. I just want to run it when its needed not all the time.

Thanks,
Sean

Check if Skype is listed in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items. If so, remove it and it should stop coming up when you log in.

It's actually simpler than that. If you have Skype on the Dock right-click on it and uncheck "Open at Login".

Yes, that method works as well.

Thanks guys,

Once again the knowledge on this forum is amazing. I am continued to be amazed at how this machine can still be a useful and productive machine. I just installed a 5400 Mah battery so I shall be good to go for a while. I maxed out the ram and put an SSD in it so its pretty darn fast to boot.

Sounds like quite a nice computer and I am glad that you are enjoying it.

So... Whose guide did you use, mine or Gavin's? They are basically the same, but according to some, mine is easier to follow along.

Well I actually read both. I understood the process at that point and just vi'd the file, and made the changes required. I also did the ui.skype.com 127.0.0.1 change so I didn't get the annoying upgrade message. Without both docs it wouldn't of been as easy. Thanks to both of you.
