skype login problem 'You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password.'

l had problems logging into a skype account of mine, now l know the pw, but it doesnt let me login!! is there a way round this? this despite putting in the characters in correctly several times in a row, just goes back to this page

Maybe you are typing too fast?
Maybe there is a problem with the password, maybe a character that works on a different computer, but your keyboard on the Mac that you are trying to use, does not enter that character correctly -- might even be a bad keyboard...?

Can you choose "Forgot password?", then do the steps to change your password?

Along with @DeltaMac's suggestions, try typing your password into, say, a Notes document as a way to test it. If you copy it, will it work if you paste it into the Skype login?

If you can't, ask a moderator to do it.

I don't like being forced to change my passwords. No one else has access to my Mac or iPad. I've never been hacked, and keeping my fingers crossed that my luck holds.
