Skype opens twice on startup

I have just got a new macbook pro (my first mac) and i have loaded skype on it. I think with the confusion of installing apps i have made a mistake as now whenever i start the laptop it tries to open up skpye twice, bringing up an error message saying that the program is already open? Anyone able to help?

In system preferences, under accounts, look under login items. See if Skype is listed twice; if so, delete one of them.
