The good thing in the recent skype outage was that I learned about this online version of Skype. I think it could be useful for our old machines, even though audio and video calls require a plugin. I didn't try it but I seriously doubt that will ever work on powerpc. So here it is an incomplete but modern alternative to the old Skype 2.8:

Yes I know. I use those hacks with Skype 2.8. It works pretty well except for showing if my contacts are actually online. I guess I like to have alternatives
