I found the download for Skype WiFi for ios 6. Installed it, setup and account and it goes to a login screen. I logged in and it goes to a "you're already online" screen and jumps back and forth to a "checked for Skype" screen. If I try to get into settings, it jumps back out to these screens and won't leave for more than about 1 second.

I went to Skype's online tech support and after a delete-reinstall and other run-arounds, they ended by saying I have to upgrade my device. After explaining that I can't upgrade, they had me try to install a new version, clearly they don't understand.

Ok, so here's what I would like to know:

Can you install Skype on an iOS 6 device?

I found the app by downloading the current version on a Mac. Then using the device (with the same AppleID) and using the app store on the device. It installs but fails to do a login.

The problem with the login is that I can use any password or the real password and it goes to the screens mentioned above.

Q. Will Skype work on an older IOS 6 iPT?

Q. if not, will any app work for doing a Skype call? I need to be able to do a Skype call from an iPT.

The Mac doesn't have a camera or sound, (hackintosh) so that's not an option. I don't want to upgrade any device at this point and can't update the IOS version.
