Connected a brand new Macbbok Pro to an older G5 via afp (Go menu) and tried to sync some files. Both machines have the exact same user name, password, etc. and up to now there has been no problem doing the type of file maintenance. However the SL 10.6.1 system changed the file permissions on many files from 755 to 777 and the sync software (Silverliner latest version) pops up an error message to that effect. I can do the same type of sync operation on a firewire HD and Silverliner will overwrite the changed files, but over AFP, the app just offers to copy to a sparse image file, not what I want at all.
Is this something Apple will fix in the next system update?
