All you have to do is read any one of these many threads. Basically you need to erase your HDD before you can install SL.

In DU, the Erase options are grayed out, so I can't seem to be able to use that. I want to reinstall the OS, this time, erasing everything first.
Ok, well I assure you those threads will show you that. However, basically you reboot with the SL disc in your drive while holding down C. You then boot from the install disk, go to utilities, format your drive, then once you close disk utility you'll be taken back to the install screen with SL.
