SL ejects application dvd

I did a fresh install of SL from the upgrade dvd that came with my macbook pro (which worked fine), but when I try to re-install ilife from the application dvd the disk is ejected after about 30 seconds or so.

Any ideas why this is happening or how to resolve this issue?
