Hey I installed snow leopard on my iMac. Everything seemed to go ok. It took about 45 minutes to install and it restarted but now it sits on a blue screen. What gives?

This suggests that you have something in /Library/LaunchDaemons or /Library/StartupItems (or /System/Library/StartupItems) holding up the boot process. While less likely it could also be a 3rd party font.

Try booting into Safe Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455

If it boots fine, try rebooting normally. If it still gets stuck at the blue screen you will need to determine what is causing the problem.

To do this:
1. Check the logs
2. Try booting verbosely, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492
3. You may need to play the trial and error game isolating LaunchDaemons and StartupItems. Luckily, you may not have many.

If it is a launchdaemon or a startup item how would i go about fixing it?

You would need to remove the plist (for LaunchDaemons) or the folder (for StartupItems).

You can just move it to another location on the disk, just get it out of those folders so they don't start up.
