I've lost all status information on my menu bar. No battery status, airport status, time, spotlight magnifying glass, etc. Restarted a couple of times but no luck. My mac is a '06 macbook pro core duo 2.16 (1,1). Anyone else having problems? Lost screen capture functionality as well, so I can't show you.

Create a new user account, login to it and see if the problem exists there as well.

Created guest user and all menu status functions show up no problem. So now what?

This typically means it is something in your profile. If you upgraded: Did you have iStat menus installed? Other menu bar related apps?

Try this in terminal: killall SystemUIServer

If that doesn't do it, trash ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist

Then run killall SystemUIServer

I had the same problem and had to remove iStat menu to rectify the problem.

Strangest thing happened this morning. When I woke the computer all the menu status was up and running. However once I put my mouse over any of them, I get the infinite spinning beachball. Also iStat menu appears frozen.

How did you remove iStat menu? Can't find the uninstaller anywhere.

Okay I figured it out. Thank you for helping me with this problem. It was iStat menu this entire time bugging out the system. Everything runs smooth now.
