In a van down by the river
With the addition of my Series 7, the Series 6 is now being used for sleep tracking and running.

At night, I wear the Series 6 while sleeping and the Series 7 is on the charger. I have my Series 6 muted at night so I get the haptic wake up alarm.

Problem: The wake up alarm on the Series 7 is audible and goes off at the same time as the Series 6. I don't want the Series 7 alarm going off at all. How do I fix this so that the haptic alarm goes off on the watch I am wearing? It has been frustrating having to snooze the haptic and then reach to snooze the now audile alarm on the other watch.

Oh no, this can't be. You are the one who is most likely to provide solutions to these kinds of problems to all of the rest of us here on these forums. And now there is a problem that you can't solve and you expect US to know how to fix it?

This is too intimidating for me, I can't possibly even attempt to suggest a solution . . .

I haven’t yet tried this myself, but in the iPhone Watch app there is a setting under Sleep -> Don’t use this Watch for Sleep (at bottom, in red).

A confirmation pop-up displays with the message “This will turn off Sleep Focus and Sleep Tracking as well as delete your Sleep schedule and wake-up alarms on your Apple Watch.”

I did a mini-check just now by turning it off on my S5 and confirming all sleep settings and alarms were preserved for the S7. I’ll report back in the morning.

Yep, this exactly.

Thanks for the reply. I had seen that option but, was hoping I didn't have to use it in case I forgot to switch watches before I went to bed. lol I suppose if that happens, the phone will still wake me up with an audible alarm.

I can report it worked as expected this morning.

I agree it would be better if sleep tracking/alarms were automatically enabled on the active watch in the same way that other notifications, etc. are. I wonder if it’s the way it is because sleep tracking is a relatively recent add and most of the logic for switching between watches was developed long before. Maybe it just slipped through and can/will be fixed in a future update.

This didn’t happen to me when I used S0 for sleep and S3 charging. The alarm wouldn’t go off on the one on the charger while I was wearing another one sleeping. That’s 3 years ago though.
