Hi,

I bought a Series 10 and one of the main drivers was the new Sleep Apnea Notifications feature, which could prove helpful for me.

  • Canada is currently NOT listed in the 150+ supported countries
  • Apple's website DOESN'T have this feature listed on their page
  • Apple's support pages in Canada DO mention the feature
  • My iOS 18 DOES have it in the Health app as well as some explanations about Sleep Apnea
  • I went to Best Buy today and the feature WASN'T displayed in the comparison page.
I now have the Watch since Sept 20, it's very much an incremental upgrade over my Series 6, especially if it doesn't have this feature.

Does anyone have any hint it's going to be approved in the future? Did Apple even submit something to Health Canada ?

Or is there a patent in Canada that they don't want to infringe ?

I'm still in the return window for the next 3 weeks I think. If by this time I can't gain confidence that this feature is coming, I'll have to return it.

Same for Australia. I’m sure it was there on day 1, now my AWU2 (phone app) says sleep apnea notifications are “no longer available” in my region, Australia is not listed in the mega list of countries it’s available in, and it’s stripped off the Apple AW10 page features list. No mention of it at all.

This should be a MR news item.. how many other countries have been removed?

I'm not sure Canada has been removed though. I think it was never on the list.

But wow - your country was mentioned and then removed ? It really sucks... and yes it totally deserves some media coverage. Apple's not being transparent about it.

A lot of people will buy the watch for this reason and then just return it. The refurb store will be full...

These medical features have to go through Canadian regulatory bodies, and our regulations are quite strict.

ECG took quite a while to be approved.

I believe blood oxygen was available right away because it states it’s not intended for medical diagnosis.
