Is anyone with the TB MacBook Pro able to put their Mac to sleep with shift+control+power button? The command does nothing, did they change it for the TB MacBook Pro?

Yes, they changed it. They now say to use the Apple menu. Don't know if you can assign the function to a key combination.

There is a sleep button that you can add to the touchbar and put right next to the power button. System Prefs/Keyboard/Customize Control Strip.
That's exactly what I did. I put it in place of the mute button, since muting can be done with the volume slider.
