Attempting to select sleep from the Apple menu does nothing but locks up the computer. Happened to me three times in the past 2 months or so. Screen will stay on but frozen.

How can i fix this? its very frustrating bc i have to open up my Macbook pro from clamshell hold down the power button and force shut down.

Is this only happening when you're in clamshell mode? Is the machine running very hot? What peripherals are plugged in and are any apps running? :)

there is nothing out of the ordinary running/plugged in.

id hitteh sleep button and the 'sleep down' process won't take place it will just lock up and there is no way of unfreezing it. Tried opening the laptop, putting a cd in, hitting the power button just once.
