Sleep Mode

This is starting to piss me off but when I put my MacBook Pro to sleep and then I click on the mouse pad to turn it on. It will turn on and flash to my sign in and then it goes black and it happen more then once. So I have to force shut down and then turn the mac back on. what is the problem?

Does the same happen, when you press a key instead?
Have you tried an SMC reset yet?
