Hi,

Sometimes I use the Hot Corners to sleep my screen when I'm using the computer but not the screen, such as when I'm listening to music for instance, to keep the screen from sitting there using all that energy. Sometimes when I move my cursor up to the top right corner, the display sleeps, no problem. However, sometimes, it will sleep for a few seconds, then wake up again. It'll do this 10 times in a row. It's nothing to do with accidentally moving the cursor, I've been very careful about that. I don't know what it could be, and it's really annoying if I'm listening to music while trying to get to sleep, and then the bright screen suddenly flashes on. Can anyone help me? If it's useful, I have a white MacBook, bought in mid 2008. Many thanks for any advice,

Macs in general can wake up if the desk they sit on gets bumped... even if you are sitting on a chair nearby and accidentally bump a shelf that is touching the desk where your Mac is can wake it up, as I discovered to my chagrin.

I had thought about that, as the desk where my Mac usually is is pretty wobbly, but then it happened in the library too. I discovered what it is though, I have an application called Caffeine which stops the screen from sleeping. I assumed the Hot Corners would override it, but it turns out they don't. It's Caffeine which keeps waking the screen up. Turn Caffeine off, and it works fine. I feel a little embarrassed, I really should have thought of that, but thanks for your reply
