Hey guys.

Lately I have been having problems with my macbook pro (early 2015). Almost every time I close the lid, when I reopen it, the computer is shut down. After turning it back on, I log in to my account and get the Sleep Wake Failure experienced a problem notification.

I tried reseting the SMC, but apparently that didn't help.

Any ideas?

Sometimes I run into the same issue on my 2012 15" rMBP running Sierra. The fix in my case is booting up and doing either a shutdown or a restart. Laptop would take something like 2 minutes to do so (it looks for a disabled dGPU) but problem would be gone afterwards.

I'd do smc/nvram. Clean and rebuild caches using Onyx after checking system files and permissions and then restart, just to be on the safe side.

I think if a new user account is created and the problem persists when using the new account, a clean OS install might be the quickest way to solve those pesky shutdowns.
