I have a 17" MBP and 30" ACD -
I'll put the MBP to sleep - closing the lid -
when an email is received while in the sleep mode the external monitor comes back on. Is there a way to keep this from happening.
thanks

I may be mistaken, but I don't think it is going to sleep if it is receiving email. I do know that when an external monitor is plugged in, it will not enter sleep mode when closing the lid. I'm not sure where to change that though.

I don't see how that's possible. If its actually sleeping it shouldn't be receiving email.

Regardless, when I put my MacBook to sleep, I unplug the MagSafe connector. This prevents it from waking up for anything.
