ok so i just got hdapm up and running. hdapm is a program that adjusts the power settings (APM) of the drive so that it does not park its heads every few seconds drastically raising the load cycle count, and decreasing the life of the drive. oh and it stops the dreaded clicking sound so many mac users complain about.

now, i set my aim to 195 with hdapm instead of max because i was told at this setting the drive will not park its heads, but still can save some battery and be put to sleep.

anyways, my concern is what should i set my optibay drive at to sleep? doesn't sleep make the drive park its heads? therefore sleeping it often would sort of defeat the purpose of hdapm? i would like to save some battery and know the best way to sleep or unmount my drive, without rapidly increasing the load cycle and stop/start counts. whats the best way to do this? right now i have cocktail and its set to sleep the drive after 5 minutes, but I might change it back to 10 so its not constantly sleeping then spinning up again.

any knowledge on the subject will be appreciated.
