Hi guys. I've got an old Macbook set up as a VPN server. It works great. I can put it to sleep and wake it with a Magic Packet over the internet with no problem. For a little while.
After it goes to sleep (and I can no longer ping the computer), I can send the WOL packet and it wakes. But then after it sits a bit longer, it ignores the magic packets.
I have magic packets forwarded on the router to a broadcast address (ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff). When I send the packets, I can use Wireshark on other computers on the network and SEE the packets so they are coming in just fine. I have a static ARP entry in the router for the Macbook.
It works just fine when it first goes to sleep and it will wake up on cue, but it's almost like it goes into a "deeper" sleep and ignores these magic packets which I know are making it down the line because they work when the computer first goes to sleep.
Any geniuses out there that can help?
Thanks!
