What is Sleipnir?
Sleipnir is a Web browser developed by a Japanese company called Fenrir Inc. Sleipnir 3 is available for Windows and Mac. Sleipnir Mobile is available for Android, iPhone / iPad and Windows Phone.

Features of Sleipnir 3 for Mac:
  • Simple design
  • Swipe to switch tabs
  • Pinch-in to view all tabs
  • Extremely speedy gestures
  • Sync bookmarks automatically with Fenrir Pass
  • Ad Block

What does the name "Sleipnir" mean?
The names Sleipnir and Fenrir are both from Norse mythology where Sleipnir is the eight-legged horse of Odin and Fenrir is a monstrous wolf. Sleipnir represents the "powerful" Web browser that Fenrir Inc. develops towards. Fenrir expresses how just like a wolf, we are not only strong alone, but also value working as a group.

I usually don't like straying from the comfort of Safari, but this is pretty cool! One thing I don't like is that folders in the bookmarks bar just have a square next to them, Safari's downwards triangle looks much nicer!

I have used the alternative browser and it is not Safari even though it is run with Webkit I have problem with occasional crashes , It of course , cut down on productivity . I am hoping they come with an update soon to address that problem

Other than what I noted above it definitely in my top two browsers to use for the mac , The deal breaker is the crashes when I load the browser

Why did you pick Sleipnir, as the name of the web browser? No offense but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue (at least for non-norwegians)

The browser looks interesting though and good luck

Hi, yes, this has been an issue for some people.
That is why I created a little guide to pronouncing Sleipnir :):

How to pronounce Sleipnir

Sleipnir is a powerful horse from Norse mythology with 8 legs. Development for Sleipnir started many years ago on a much smaller scale, and it has kept its name since then. I personally think that the Web browser market has changed so much since development started for Sleipnir 1 that what it resembled then and now are quite different.

In answer to why such a hard to pronounce name would be used, for Japanese people most western words are difficult to pronounce, but once they are converted in Katakana it is just like everyday Japanese, so it is not a real issue. Sleipnir started in Japan, and has only recently started to make its way around the world.

Hi, that is quite interesting. Do you feel it is easier to click because it is a triangle? I can understand that a downwards triangle feels like something will pop-down from it when clicked.

I will definitely suggest it to the development team.

Thank you

Hi, thank you for your feedback.
If you can provide some more information on what platform you are using, the version of Sleipnir you are using, when it crashes, etc., I can pass on the information on to the development team.
Most issues only exist because the development team have yet to find them and fix them, so if anybody encounters any issues like this, please feel free to write them down here.

Thank you

Sleipnir new concept - Instantly send data to your smartphone

Fenrir Inc. is currently developing towards a new concept.
The concept to link your desktop and smartphone devices.
This will make it possible to send data you have on Sleipnir 3 for Windows/Mac to your smartphone.
This makes it possible to send phone numbers, addresses, etc. and open them in your desired app on your smartphone.

The video in the link below shows a test run of this function using an iPhone:

Crashes every time I try to open the browser

Hi I'm running Lion 10.7 and just downloaded Sleipnir 3 for Mac.

I was very excited about this release as I've been using Sleipnir for quite some time now, starting on my iPhone.

However it crashes before even getting to the browser screen. Just as soon as I click the Sleipnir icon, I am greeted with this: "Sleipnir quit unexpectedly"

Help please?

Crashing on your mac? have you tried deleting all traces of it and reinstalling?

Still crashing

Yes I have tried using AppCleaner to delete all traces of any past versions of Sleipnir, twice. This is my second install of Sleipnir, and still the same error.

I really love this browser, I wish it would work again.

Site or store version? Their are two versions.

In most cases, app removal software like AppCleaner doesn't do a thorough job of finding and removing files/folders related to deleted apps. For more information, read this and this. If you just want to delete the app, drag the .app file to the trash. No other software needed. If you want to completely remove all associated files/folders, no removal apps will do the job.

The most effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
