I just activated my iPhone last night and i notice that when i press the button to turn it on from the top it brings me into the main screen, shouldn't the slide to unlock appear first? I do see the slide to unlock when i have the iPhone on though it doesn't show during the initial turn on of the iPhone is this typical?

yeah, i get that. They probably figure that if you took the time to turn it on, then you want it on and don't prompt for second confirmation, like vista for example. Are you sure you want to talk, ok...... are you sure you are sure you want to talk.

lol

Because you have to hold the power button for a full second to turn it on initially, you won't see the slide to unlock screen.

Most iPhone users never turn off their phone, they just lock them.

And put them in airplane mode.
