Sliding control centre up & down messes with my auto brightness

I have calibrated my auto brightness and yet whenever I use control centre (not to adjust the screen brightness), I find that my screen is much brighter after I have fiddled with control centre a few times per day. I take great care not to accidentally touch the brightness slider and I'm sure that I don't, yet this bug keeps on happening. This fault is so annoying that it is stopping me from using the control centre.
 
Why do you have to "fiddle" with the Control Centre" a few times a day?

Have you tried re-booting the phone? Have you tried altering whatever settings via "Settings"?

To turn screen rotate on & off, to switch bluetooth on & off and to switch WiFi on & off.
Why have this quick use settings console if I can't actually use it? I have tried everything, even a fresh installation.
