Slight concern over apple watch sales - can a sim be cloned?

Hi

I posted back in June/July '16

"Modern sims can't be cloned but maybe the apple watch will piggy back off the iPhone sim some how using the same number."

So....

To get the apple watch back on track (after poor recent sales) the apple watch will need its own sim.

Appologies if mentioned before but my understanding is that modern sims cant be cloned. But maybe they can be if cloned by the network provider?

I really think a sim in the watch is KEY to future success. Does anyone have knowledge of sims and how best this could be implemented as would like watch 3 in Summer '17 to completment my iPhone '10'

Thanks for posting.
The eSim looks perfect and I would be happy if it was just on my choosen carrier with one phone number for apple watch and iPhone.
This looks good for apple watch 3 and surely would help sales as its a "game changer"

My friend has the S2. We were in Vegas and he left his phone in his room. He still got texts/calls.
My wife lost her iphone in the casino.


$10 a month for another number? OK I will make my coffee at home 3 times a month to make up for it.

I would never pay that much for data on my watch. Its way too limited. What, check a few emails and messages? maybe worth $1p/m but definitely not $10.

The reason why there were poor sales was because it was an 18month old device due to be updated with a lot of rumor updates as well. Thats how it works. Sales of products always slide when rumors of new products come up.

No the data would be bundled with the iPhone so no worries.

No way carriers are going to allow that. They will nickel and dime you for everything. Hence the reason why Verizon already has a $10 per month smart watch plan.

I think its the only singlular thing the Brits get a slightly better deal.

At work we have 5 sims unlimited calls and text shared data 10GB
No one used data apart from me.
Cost £60 inc or $73.41 for 5 lines great coverage best in UK.

We in the US get royally screwed by carriers. I'm paying $180 a month for 3 unlimited AT&T plans + 550 minutes + unlimited messaging. Thats after a 24% monthly discount.

Yeh thats crazy I actually would strongly object to $180 for 3 lines assuming it 'sim free' no phone provided.
