I am still merrily using my mid-2010 MacBook Pro, and will continue to do so until I can't.
I'm on my third battery, only after this one was installed, the trackpad ceased to click or drag properly, as though there wasn't enough clearance for the trackpad to click. The tech opened the case back up and said the battery (Apple, not third party) didn't fit properly, and so he put a thin piece of duct tape (!) somewhere to create a spacer, and the trackpad worked fine for about a week, then slowly faded back to not working well at all. It's a pain in the butt.
I've heard of trackpads working badly because batteries are swelling, but what could cause my trackpad to not work when I install a NEW battery? Harrumph.
