slim, quiet linux command line distro for G5

Hi there,
i have an old G5 that kernel panics when the graphics hardware is used to a certain extent. I'm looking for a really slim linux distribution that allows me to use it for ssh. I only want a terminal (green on black please) with color support for vi syntax highlighting

any ideas?

That seems fairly ridiculous, unless you're actually using the processor for something, but perhaps Yellow Dog?

Yes, actually, the iMac G5 support seems to be much better than the PMG5 support.
