I have an iBook g3 600MHz with 640MB RAM running os 10.2.8. The finder is unbearably slow. It sometimes takes 3-5 seconds of ugly spinning disc just to list the contents of a directory. This is true with file open dialogs too. I've looked at the process viewer and opened a terminal and run top but don't see anything eating up my CPU/memory. Is the finder just really slow? Do I just have to live with it? How can it possibly take so long just to list a directory? I haven't had this problem on other macs. Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated.
