I just purchased my mac 2 days ago. Its the lower end version 2.26 with 160 GB HD and 2 gb ram.

Now comming from an hp laptop- 2.1 GHz and 2 G ram i am noticing that my macbook is extremly laggy in comparison to my other laptop.

For example- when on safari, pages take ages to load and i am finding that it crashes on me quite frequently. Also application take a while to open and are laggy once i am in the interface.

I bought a mac because i thought it would be faster, better and stonger than a PC- why is it giving me these speed problems.

Thanks

You're right, you shouldn't be experiencing slow downs on a machine that new. Try re-installing OS X with the restore disk in the box and make sure you do an Erase and Install to wipe out the current system.

If that doesn't work, take it to an Apple Store and get them to compare it to one of their display machines with the same spec.

sounds like you might have a bad hdd.

bad harddrives can behave like this....

i would try a premissions repair and/or a osx reinstall.

if this is still happening...you most likely have a bad hdd.

I just bought this computer from bestbuy- do you suggest that i take it back and ask for another?
