Slow Aperture

Hi,

I have iCore 7 macbook pro. Recently I bought aperture to replace iPhoto. After using it for few weeks, I realized that Aperture is veryyy slowwww. It lags a lot . It even lags when you want to select few photos. This is just unacceptable.

Did I set something wrong in my setup? Or is it just like this?
Please share your experience.
