Hello all,
Recently, I turned on my MBP and had to do a hard shutdown (hold power button down) after 2 minutes of the white screen with the apple logo and spinning cog in the center. When I pressed button again, it started up normally. This is actually the second time its happened in about a week or two. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I have a USB keyboard and mouse connected to it on boot up. Should I be concerned? New to Macs, is there any way of checking to see if the hard disk or OS (mountain lion upgrade) is ok other than "verify disk" in Disk utility?

You could run AHT:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509

Ran AHT and test was negative. All well.. If problem happens again maybe I'll reset NVRAM
