slow bootiing of mac powerbook G4

i m using MAc powerbook G4 with version 10.5, processor 1.87GHZ and RAM 1.5GHZ and i have recenbtly installed leopard and after then my computer takes atleast 4-5 mins to reoot and it has become very slow in performance. my HDD space is 80 GB with only 40GB used..
i am totally confused. I installed tiger and erased leopard but still its slow...help me
