Slow cold startup with iWork 2009?

Hi All,

On my 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3, 10.6.2 MacBook Pro, it takes about 6 seconds to open a Keynote or Pages file. I was wondering if this is of norm with the iWork suite or if therein lies an issue I can address (i.e., to improve cold startup). Any ideas?

WOW! I didn't realize it but it actually IS slow!

I have the exact same specs in a 13" MacBook Pro and it takes 11 bounces for my Keynote project (3 objects with build-in effects) to open. But that's only when opening the file while Keynote is NOT active.

With Keynote running it takes 1 or maybe 1.5 seconds to open the same project.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago I opened a similar thread where I mentioned that the iWork apps take just about as long (sometimes even longer) to open than Office apps on Mac! Pretty disappointing, considering iWork should supposedly be better integrated with Mac since it's a Mac app by default. Heh.
