Slow DL speed on Wifi

Hello,

When using Safari Download manager (or the safari download plugin) i'm experiencing very slow download speeds over Wifi.

If I download a file from my computer on the same wifi network, the top speed is about 300kb/s. On my iPhone with Safari the top speed is never higher than 40kb/s.

Is there any logic behind this? Why is it DL'ing so slow using safari?
