I have a new M2 mini (8gb/256gb) that has slow download speeds that I can't seem to resolve.

I have fiber 1gig service, and a wired MacBook to the router gets the expected speeds (800 down/800 up).

The wired mini, however, only gets to about 200 Mbps down. The upload speeds are fine (800).

Things I've tried, without any improvement:
  • Wifi
  • new ethernet cable
  • Belkin USB-C to ethernet adapter
  • different port on the router
  • turning off private relay
My next step was to take it back to Apple since I've only had it a few weeks.

But I thought I'd check here for any other suggestions before doing that.

Some more things to try. No promises.

Go to network settings pane.
Click once on the ethernet entry (on the left).
Click the "-" sign to DELETE it.
Once it's gone, click the "+" sign to create a brand-new ethernet entry.
REBOOT.
See if that changes anything.

Another thing to try:
You want to go back to the network settings for ethernet.
Somewhere (I'm not writing this on Ventura) there is a setting pane for "hardware".
You want to open it.
The default setting is "auto".
You want to change that to a manual setting. Change ANYTHING, it doesn't matter (keep reading).
Now click apply and close the pane.
Next REOPEN the pane.
Now, put the settings back to auto.
Apply and close it.

The idea was to "fake some changes". I've read of others using this trick to somehow "reset" or "jar awake" the ethernet performance.

Try both of the above.
They may help, or not.
Again, no promises.

Wow, this worked!! I can't believe it. Thank you!
