Slow(er) wifi on 3GS

Anyone else experiencing a decrease in speed through wifi on their 3GS? By slow, I mean... well with my 3G phone I have a 10MB connection here at home and it would consistently hit between 7-10mb each time. The new iphone 3GS I have however, struggles to hit 2-3mb on wifi constantly.

I've read of a few other people experiencing the same problem, just want to see how common this issue is...
 
My wifi speeds are significantly faster and I also notice that I get signal further away.

On 2G I would loose signal within several feet of my front door. I now can keep a weak signal from within my car. Was viewing my mac on vnc as I pulled away.

Everything is in same location also.

Where did your phone ship from/or did you buy in store? What's the model # and color/capacity? < Not sure any of that matters but just curious.
 
There are some phones that do have WIFI problems, and 3.1 didn't fix it. I have one of the phones that does it. Mine does it on all routers for some reason, but putting the router into 802.11 B mode will fix the problem till apple fixes it.

I have the same problem as the OP my my 3g connection speed is 3x faster than wifi:( on my 3GS.

(edit my router is already on 802.11b and 802.11g mixed should i switch it to b mode only?)
 
Me too

I have the same issue. I have 3 iphones here. I have one of each one (2g has 3.0 OS, 3g has 2.2.1 OS and my 3gs has 3.1 beta non-hacked). Both the 2g and 3gs perform very poorly on wi-fi but the 3g runs flawlessly with constant steady speeds and no dropping in and out on speed test. Coincidence ???. :mad::mad::mad:

Thanks for the setting it to b mode tip. I can finally stream on youtube and open my update app section without waiting 3 - 4 minutes for it to load.


I tried to set it on G mode only and it seems stable as well. It's ran for about a good 35 minutes without a single bar dropping so far. It would usually jump around every 1-3 minutes all the time. I will test both modes more in the morning as it seems to act up more during mid day than any other time. :eek::):D

Switching to B only will make the 3Gs max 802.11 B around 5.5 Mbps.
 
i too had/have this issue. swapped it out at the apple store after the "genius" compared with his and his was 2-3x faster. my new one is just as slow :(
 
No issues here, my wifi is just as fast on my 3GS as it was on the 3G
