Hi guys! I'm actually posting for a friend of mine who bought a Mac fairly recently. I used the search and tried Google but couldn't find anything--sorry if this has been asked previously or if I'm posting in the wrong place.

We're trying to use Windows Live Messenger to share files between each other, unfortunately the transfers are going very slow. We have absolutely no problem sending stuff to each other when he's using his PC (PC to PC) though. He tried port forwarding the Mac and once that didn't work he tried connecting the Mac directly to his modem, only to find that didn't work either. He also installed Messenger:mac but we got the same deal.

Does anyone know how to fix our slow connection between each other? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for replying.

My friend is using Leopard and I'm using Windows XP Home. He just tried using Mercury Messenger but we're still getting a very slow transfer speed with it. :(

I always get horrible transfer speeds over MSN, no matter what computer I'm using. I'd suggest uploading the files to a free file hosting site like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Sendspace, Yousendit, etc. and sending him the download link.

Sorry for the late response.

Thanks Amdahl but it didn't work and we're still having the same problem. This is so frustrating because we know it's directly related to his Mac. Anyone else have any suggestions we can try? We're losing our minds.

Are either of the computers in question firewalled or NATd? That often screws up IM program's file transfer functionality...
