Hey Guys,
I just got a new MacBook Pro, so I put my old iMac (well not old, but older) in another room to use as a media Mac. I just did a clean install from the Leopard disc, and now the hard drive seems REALLY slow (copying files (media files specifically) from one place on the internal HDD to another runs at about a megabyte a second). Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Perhaps spotlight's indexing is to blame, but I dont know if it indexes after a clean install. Check to see if it's spotlight.

Verify disk and repair permissions. See if that helps. Your drive may be failing.

I hadn't thought of Spotlight, but it doesn't appear to be indexing (no dot in the icon). I was repairing permissions as of the first post, I'll let you guys know if it helps.
