Hello a new mac user here and another question issue.

Performance has been very slow in the last 24 hours. Earlier I was having issues with wifi connection but now it seems OK.

I downloaded iStat pro but am not familiar with all the stats and jargon.

This mac is 4 years old however I upgraded ram to 2gb.

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM41.0055.B08
SMC Version (system): 1.1f5
Serial Number (system): SystemSerialNumb
Hardware UUID:

I'd like to know what I can do to make performance better and I can post iStat pro stats if needed.

I also bought a new wireless router this morning and haven't installed it as our current router is old.

I was going to buy a new iMac in the future but this was given to us. I called apple and the tech said if I upgraded ram to the max of 2gb and upgrade to snow leopard this machine should be fine for needs, email, surfing etc.

Regards,

Marc

Slow Macs can be caused by a variety of different reasons ranging from not enough RAM to failing hard disks. I would do some trouble shooting steps, if you Google "Slow iMac" you will find quite a few articles. Most trouble shooting can be done without spending in any money.
