We bought an iMac a 17", somewhere around may, and that one ended up broken (It had a tone of problems, I even confused the apple care guy). So we got a new one. This one works fine, so to speak. All the applications ie. Apple Works, iChat, Quick Time, etc. take a reaily long time to start up.Apple Works runs for about 4 minutes before the 1st screen comes up. It's also slow when it starts up (Not with the blue backround, the gray backround with the apple logo that comes up first). Please help!

Go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and repair permissions. Come back and tell us if that fixes it.

Also, check to see if NetInfo is turned on. If there's no netinfo server and it's turned on it'll slow the system down to a crawl. It's under Applications:Utilities:Directory Access:Services: Uncheck NetInfo.
