Slow internet on 10.6.8

Just looked at a 10.6.8 box with very slow wireless and zero ethernet connectivity. I deleted the /private/tmp 'launch' folders that contained listeners, sock, org.x, etc. Which did bring back only wireless capability, barely. Could it be Comcast or Sophos?
