First timer but recent problem is driving me crazy.
Background: Time Warner Cable Modem, BEFSR41 v.2 router. 2 PC boxes connected via ethernet; additional boxes connected via a switch.
My wife bought a WiFi iPad and an Airport Express. I connected the AE to the router, set it up, and everything worked perfectly for several months. An HPprinter, macbook, ipods also connect via wireless.
One day, internet speed dropped to less than half on both the wired and wireless connections. After some experimenting, i found that if I detached the AE from the router the PCs ran at full internet speed. Alternatively if I detached the PCs and ran only the AE on the router the wireless was at full speed. But if both were connected the internet ran at less than half.
One last tidbit. When the AE and the wired connections are both on the router I note that the AE cycles constantly between Normal (green) and No Ethernet Connection (yellow).
I realize that I am offering non-technical observations, but does anyone have a clue what is going on? Thanks.
