Slow iPhoto '09

Hi,
I'm using MBP mid-2010 4GB 320GB 5400rpm

my iPhoto has 30000 pics, 40GB+ of photos. I know its demanding, but my iPhoto runs slowly. I consistently have 25GB+ free harddisk free space.

I'm wondering what i can do to make it faster ...

1. Would upgrading to 7200rpm/ SSD improve the speed of iPhoto significantly, considering my amount of photos.
2. Would upgrading RAM helps?
3. What can I do software-wise to make it faster?
