I have noticed for a few months, maybe since I got iLife '08 last year, that importing photos on my dad's iMac G5 seems a LOT slower than on my MacBook Pro. I'm using the same card reader, Leopard, iPhoto '08. I don't recall his being so slow. Has anybody else had this problem? I didn't have it when I was down to 2 or 3GB of disk space, so I doubt that's the problem.

I've noticed iLife 08' is slower on older computers too.

I installed it on my G5 mac and the newer iLife does run slower then the one it came with.

My new macbook pro does everything much faster though :)

Oh yeah, this MBP isn't even close. It's almost as if the new iLife is run in emulation on PPC machines. But the new Events feature is worth slowness during import, so it's not much of a big deal.

I also made my first video using the "new" iMovie (you know, the one stripped of a lot of features). It seems to run a lot faster and doesn't chew up as much hard disk when importing video.
