Hello

Basically, I bought my MacBook in 2008 - its ran amazingly until about a month ago. Its started to get really slow, freeze all the time - and when I checked the space left on the hard drive, there is only 3GB left.

Is there anything you can get to let you know what is taking up most of the space.. like photos, videos, applications etc.?

Any suggestions on how I could get it to run faster and to get it from not freezing?

now this happened to me, heres what i did;

bought 1tig ext. drive from WD.

backed up everything to it using time machine,

formated internal hdd (completely wiped the disc)

booted from flash drive containing lion, installed the os only, (adding nothing from backup)

the mac is now relatively brand new again, it behaves just like when i got it out of the box.

now all i do is open all my third party apps from the ext. (don't add these to hdd) they operate perfectly from ext. drive.

now you will have your mac back to the way you want it! and you hdd will be relatively empty.

good luck. ;)
