My MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa model 2008) has a very slow Internet connection.
The connection speeds up to normal speed when safe booted.
I guess this tells me that it is some software, but I don't know what.
I have tried the following with no success.
Booted with no startup items.
Booted with no additional preference panes.
Booted with no startup items or preference panes.
Rebuilt directory.
Defragged hard drive.
Trashed preferences.
Zapped the pram.
Logged in as another user.
Used a different browser.
So my question is what does safe boot do? Which programs, extensions etc does it use and which does it keep? I am trying to narrow down the problem. Could it still be a hardware problem?
Thanks,
Crus
