I'll try to keep this simple...
My early 2011 13" Macbook Pro is lagging terribly and I get the beach ball of death just about every time I click on anything in any program.

What I've tried so far:
>Cleared space on hard drive.
>Installed new 250GB SSD (now has ~150GB of free space).
>Upgraded from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM.
>Ran "Cocktail" app to clean up caches and various other system files.
>Upgraded from Lion to Mavericks (last ditch effort).

From reading many other threads about this sort of problem, I think I've exhausted everything except reformatting the drive and starting from scratch. (I did clone everything from the old HD to the new SSD)

Is there ANYTHING else it could be?

Thanks in advance!

You could try running hardware test from your original disks, that will let you know if you have some piece of hardware failing in it. Other than that it looks like you've tried everything I would think of.
