Hello,
I'm having a strange issue transferring files between a mac and PC.

Setup: I use my PC (running Windows 7) as a server for movies, etc. and then grab them using a MBA (Rev.A) when needed.

I have correctly setup sharing on both the MBA (SMB + FTP) and PC (including NTLMv2).

I'm using only a 802.11 G router. Issue occurs with the MBA wireless OR connected via ethernet.

Problem:
When I connect to the PC (via SMB) from the MBA and transfer files, it is painfully slow. Even over ethernet I'm getting around 300kB/s. Using this exact same setup, I was previously able to get about 10mB/s.

However, if I connect to the MBA from my PC using FTP or through the Network browser, and drop my files into the MBA, I get good transfer speeds of approx 7-10mB/s.

This is a problem for me because I'm usually mobile with the MBA and would prefer to connect MBA-->PC rather than having to drop files PC-->MBA.

I'm reasonably technical, and understand the limitations of my router. However, over ethernet, 300kB/s is unacceptable. As stated above, using the exact same (AFAIK) setup I was previously able to get get 10mB/s connecting to the PC from my MBA. I've read elsewhere that "SMB is slow" etc etc. But the fact that I was previously able to get good speeds (given my router) is the truly baffling part.

Please give me some suggestions as to what may have changed to cause this decrease in transfer speed, or what I can do to improve it.

Thanks!
